NDLEA Parades Aged Trafficker, Drug Merchant in Camouflage

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA has paraded suspected drug traffickers including a 72-year-old man and a fake Naval officer.

The Commander, Mr. Tunder John, stated this while parading the suspects at the command office in Ogwashi-Ukwu in Aniocha South local government area.

According to NDLEA had shut down 130 drug joints across the state.

Commander Tunde John said a total of one hundred and sixty-one suspects were arrested for drug-related offences and drug dependency including 134 males and 27 females.

[Commander stressed]

“Codeine has been banned by the federal government. Imagine the small bottles, we have 620.5L, methamphetamine, commonly known as mpulumilli, 316g.

He noted the agency had counseled 78 suspects and rehabilitated 10 users while warning against the casual abuse of illegal substances including the combination of alcohol and marijuana commonly referred to as ‘Monkey tail’.

[He pointed]

“The hemp mixed with the gin, as the law stands today is a prohibited item, so when you put it or use it in any form you have committed an offence.”

The suspects included a 72-year-old herbalist Nwaeze Onuekusu, who was caught at Ugbobi Quarters in Oshimilli North, with 10 grams of cocaine.

Meanwhile, Chinonso Lucky who impersonates as a naval officer to traffic drugs narrates how he was arrested by NDLEA operatives in Warri Delta State with 5.5kg of cannabis.

“On that day, I was putting on camouflage given to me by a navy officer.”

According to records, the NDLEA had secured the conviction of 51 drug peddlers in the period under review.
