ABOH/Nigeria: After a longtime of lockdown due to the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic, The Executive Chairman, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State (NELGA), Hon. Juan Ameeche Governor has announced the reopening of the Council offices, calling that despite the relaxation of the lockdown, Citizens, of the area should continue to observe caution to ensure the virus does not spread to the area.
The chairman in a Press Statement released over the weekend stated that, the existing directives, guidelines presented by the Local Government should be obeyed, as the rising cases in the state a becoming worrisome.
“We are all aware, the Covid-19 pandemic cases continue to take a worrisome toll as the number of cases at both federal and state level is experiencing unimaginable increase in numbers on a daily basis. In fact, it is predicted that we are currently in the phase of community spread and transmission with potential of anticipated increase in number of people contacting the virus”.
“While it is true that we have not recorded any case in NELGA, we are aware that the spread of Covid19 is still ongoing and from the Delta state records, NELGA is reading zero case but we cannot claim any victory because the tests are currently done based on reported or traced cases. Therefore it is very important that we continue to protect ourselves and others without relenting in following all recommended precautionary measures and applicable directives”.
The LG Boss harped on the need for the localities, Local Government, grassroots populace to heed to the under-listed key actions that we recommend from the onset will continue to be obeyed, monitored and enforced including but not limited amongst others.
“Let’s continue to maintain appropriate hygiene by washing our hands regularly. Use sanitizers where necessary and handy. Always wear face mask and practice social distancing at all time in any public place, and watch out for one another and report any suspicious case immediately”.
“Stay at home if possible and limit visits and visitors as much as possible. Self-isolate yourself if you feel any of the symptoms (sneezing, coughing, high temperatures, itchy throat and difficulty in breathing) and alert us immediately. Continue to show love to all around you but don’t get exposed.”
He stated that with the opening of the council Monday, 8 June, 2020, all the necessary precaution will be applied to both staff and visitors.
“The NELGA Council will open fully effective 8:00 am on Monday June 8th 2020, with obeying all precaution at all must be obeyed at all time. Hand Wash Points and sanitizers shall be placed at every block in the Council. Everyone must wear face mask and practice social distancing at all time in”.
“Temperatures will be monitored from time to time in the council. Each department will develop specific protocol to ensure compliance relative to their job schedule and minimal file handling will be enforced till further notice”.
“Visitors will be strictly on essential bases, high priority and on appointment/schedule. Personnel temperature will be monitored before boarding the staff bus at all time. All forms of gathering and loitering in violation of the Covid19 recommended precautionary measures are prohibited”.
It further called on worship centres, social gatherings such as burial and marriages to obey established guidelines, saying that the council is also very concerned about the vulnerables, such as the elderly.
