Society exists for cooperation, and cooperation leads to better developments. Developments not just development, but real development. However the story of the average Ukwuani man or Ndokwa man is co-existence with self destruction.
Off recent the trend in our political story had being personal leader, that is a leader within a leadership. And if such person’s opinion is not taken then those in authority is not doing well.
For close to one year now, the story of our political office holders and Ndokwa people is everything, but lovely as the case may be off all the political office holders, either elected or appointed it has been the same story. It is either they are not doing or what they are doing or did is not up to standard.
Yes, that had been our stand. It can be recalled that before the advent of the present democratic setting, the land of Ndokwa was what can be called devastated by lack of development. Especially roads. If we can recall, in traveling from the town to villages along the busy Sapele/ Agbor road to the hinterlands, like Ebedei-Uno, Utagba-Uno, Ogume, Amai, or to the headquarters of Ndokwa west, from Obiaruku it used to be journey of pains. But today, the story is different. The government has opened up the links, and the areas can now be easily accessed. It will be agreed that this fast development on the main road sections of Ndokwa land is now well opened and passable. However, much still need to be done in the area of roads, especially the streets within individual villages and towns. For instance going through the streets in Umutu, Ebedei, Umuaja, Ogume, Amai, Ezhionum, Ashaka, Beneku, the roads are not maintained. Even with the simplest way of maintenance off filling the bad sections and grading.
Despite the above numerated street-road issue and other areas of our life as people, the things that is most disheartening is the spirit of “Pull Him Down syndrome”. And this had being taken into the cyber world. The Ndokwa people had turned their discourse to that of victimization and hatred. This can be noticed in our various gatherings, even meetings.
Recently, there was a post and discourse in Ndokwa Town Hall, a web based parliament, of a two time councilor from ward 3 in Ukwuani Local Government area, and according to their word, “and a PA to the DESOPADEC member, representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani at the board, who is now claiming to come from Ndokwa- west, and decided to contest the forth coming Local government election, as his father is from Ndokwa-West. Our concern here is that apart from the link to the DESOPADEC Commissioner, whom will all know of how the commissioner has received a lot of bashing from the Ndokwa-web parliamentarians, starting from no job done to, okay the jobs were not to standard, or he has no certificate, to, he was sick and admitted in an hospital in Ghana, or suspended by the Delta State House of Assembly, this issue of the so called PA having double LGA and linked to him is another act of destructive politics, all aimed at destroying the future of our people.
We are not standing for the wrongs of any person, but there is need for proper and constructive criticism, after proper investigation. The issue of the so called PA, is one accusation too many. The said PA from all indication though has a maternal root in Ndokwa-West; the person is a blue blood Ukwuani son who from investigation is not contesting for any position..
Our elected and appointed officers may be slow, but let us criticize them constructively; dialogue goes a long way to check tension in the land. The continuous destruction of our people in government is not good for our development. Yes, the development will expect may be slow, but Ndokwa land is opening. Let the truth be told.
