Ndokwa Should be Appointed in NDDC-Group

A political pressure group, Concerned Ndokwa Patriots (CNP), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint indigenes of Ndok¬wa ethnic nationality in Del¬ta State into federal agencies, with specific reference to the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC).
The group said Ndokwa nation made up of three lo¬cal government areas in the state, is one of the oil produc¬ing areas in Delta, but since the creation of the NDDC, no indigene of the area has been appointed into the agency.
In a statement by its Na¬tional Coordinator, Com¬rade Victor Okuepusu, the group recalled that Ijaw, Itsekiri, Isoko and Urhobos have, since 2005, when the commission came on board, been represented twice in the board but Ndokwa nation which is one of the largest oil producing areas has been ne¬glected over the years.
The group which frowned at such marginalisation, called on President Muham¬madu Buhari to correct the imbalance and employ his good offices to appoint a son or daughter of Ndokwa into NDDC so as to make the people feel a sense of belong¬ing in Nigeria.
According to the group, “Ndokwa ethnic nationality is host to seven oil companies and produces 200, 000 bar¬rels of crude oil per day, and has the highest gas deposit in the whole of West Africa. Besides hosting seven oil companies, Ndokowa land produces the highest quality oil through the Kwale/Okpai plant which was commis¬sioned by former military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in 1987”.
The group said the power generated from the area supplies electricity to many states in the country includ¬ing Anambra and parts of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The group which is back¬ing the anti-corruption cru¬sade of President Buhari led administration, vowed that being an Ndokwa organisa¬tion, Ndokwa people would continue to protect and pre¬serve pipelines and oil facili¬ties in the area.
