Ndukwe Decries Genocide Against Christians in Northern Nigeria, Calls for U.S. Intervention and Stronger National Response

PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: The President of Citizens Quest for Truth Initiative and Publisher of The Beam News Magazine, Chief Obiaruko Christie Ndukwe, has condemned what she described as the ongoing genocide against Christians in Northern Nigeria by Islamic extremists, insisting that the killings are not fabricated but a grim reality that has persisted for nearly two decades.

In a strongly worded statement posted on her Facebook page, Chief Ndukwe said it was time for both the Nigerian government and the international community to acknowledge the crisis for what it truly is. “The solution is to admit it and state that it’s been moved from Christians to Muslims who do not believe in religious extremism,” she wrote, stressing that moderate Muslims have also become targets of insurgent violence.

She further alleged that former U.S. President Donald Trump and Western intelligence agencies possess more detailed information about the crisis than Nigeria’s own security establishment, and urged international partners, particularly the United States, to provide real assistance in tackling insurgency and terrorism in Nigeria. “We need help to fight this insurgency targeting Christian communities in the North as well as the extended liberal Muslim communities,” she added.

Chief Ndukwe questioned why the U.S. government has not extended concrete support to rescue Nigerians—regardless of religion or ethnicity—from what she termed a “calculated external aggression.” While acknowledging Trump’s recent comments on Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation, she warned that mere classification of the country as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) without direct action could further victimize those who already suffer from extremist violence.

Describing the situation as a critical test for Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ndukwe urged the National Assembly to institute reforms that ensure ministerial nominees are assigned specific portfolios before screening and confirmation. She concluded with a passionate appeal: “This is a defining moment for our nation. We must confront the truth, act decisively, and pray that Nigeria survives this.”
