ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, was awarded the Cultural Ambassador accolade by the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) during their International Museum Day celebration at the China Cultural Center on May 20, 2025.
Recognized for his significant contributions to cultural preservation and peace-building across Nigeria, Senator Nwoko’s country estate, Mount Ned, stands as a testament to his commitment to heritage and tourism.
Chairing the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, Senator Nwoko has led efforts to repatriate Nigeria’s looted artifacts globally. His global engagements, including being the first black man to journey to the South Pole in January 2020, underscore his dedication to malaria eradication and collaboration with international scientists.
Accepting the award on Senator Nwoko’s behalf, his Special Adviser on Media, Juliet Ugah, emphasized his advocacy for proactive cultural diplomacy. She highlighted the critical role of soft power in national influence, stressing the need for enhanced synergy among the ministries of culture, foreign affairs, and the creative industry to advance Nigeria’s cultural agenda.
