ABUJA/Nigeria: The Senator Representing Delta, Senator Ned Nwoko, North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has joined other prominent Nigerians in mourning the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a national icon of integrity, chastity, and self-discipline.

In a condolence message issued in Abuja, Senator Nwoko said the passing of the former president on Sunday in London marked the end of an era for a man revered by many Nigerians for his honesty, both as a military leader and as a democratically elected president.

“The nation has lost an outstanding patriot. He was a man of exceptional honesty and self-discipline. His life and times were marked by moral rectitude in the service of the nation,” Nwoko said.

Reflecting on Buhari’s decades of service, Nwoko noted that the late former president stood out for his simplicity and austere lifestyle, virtues he described as rare among contemporary African leaders.

He recalled Buhari’s role in shaping the country’s political and historical landscape, from his early years as a military officer during the civil war era to his leadership at the height of Nigeria’s democratic journey.

“Nigeria will remember President Buhari for his immense contributions to the unity and survival of our nation,” he stated. “While he was not infallible, like every mortal, he gave his utmost best serving Nigeria in various capacities.”

Extending his condolences, Nwoko added: “On behalf of my family, associates, and the people of Delta North Senatorial District, I solemnly sympathize with the nation and the immediate family of His Excellency, the late Muhammadu Buhari. May God grant his soul eternal rest and graciously comfort his entire family.”
