ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North has stepped up his national profile with bold legislative actions, a strong anti-oil theft campaign, and fresh recognition for his commitment to grassroots development and youth empowerment.
In a statement highlighting recent developments, Nwoko revealed his active role in the Senate Committee on Crude Oil Theft, where he has led high-powered investigative hearings into Nigeria’s bleeding oil sector. The senator described the oil theft crisis as a “national emergency” draining billions in public funds, sabotaging investor confidence, and fuelling insecurity.
“These hearings are critical to restoring transparency and accountability in one of Nigeria’s most vital industries,” Nwoko stated. “We’re determined to dismantle the criminal networks plundering our resources.”
The hearings, which brought together oil majors, regulators, and security agencies, have sparked urgent national conversations around sectoral reform and accountability. Senator Nwoko emphasized the committee’s resolve to build strong preventive frameworks to protect the nation’s oil wealth.
While driving these reforms, the senator also received multiple awards from private institutions acknowledging his efforts in anti-corruption advocacy, effective legislation, and community-focused leadership.
“These honours are humbling reminders that the work is being seen and appreciated,” Nwoko said.
Expanding his influence beyond legislative chambers, the senator also played a central role at the unveiling of the Senate President’s Annual National Lawn Tennis Championship. As Vice Chairman of the Senate Sports Development Committee, he was conferred with the Honorary Chairman/Patron II medal in recognition of his steadfast support for youth and sports development.
From pushing oil sector reform to championing sports infrastructure and anti-graft initiatives, Senator Ned Nwoko is fast cementing his place as a determined lawmaker committed to national transformation.
