In a statement highlighting recent developments, Nwoko revealed his active role in the Senate Committee on Crude Oil Theft, where he has led high-powered investigative hearings into Nigeria’s bleeding oil sector. The senator described the oil theft crisis as a “national emergency” draining billions in public funds, sabotaging investor confidence, and fuelling insecurity.
“These hearings are critical to restoring transparency and accountability in one of Nigeria’s most vital industries,” Nwoko stated. “We’re determined to dismantle the criminal networks plundering our resources.”
The hearings, which brought together oil majors, regulators, and security agencies, have sparked urgent national conversations around sectoral reform and accountability. Senator Nwoko emphasized the committee’s resolve to build strong preventive frameworks to protect the nation’s oil wealth.
