Ned Nwoko Refutes Allegations of Abandoning Anioma Delegates at Enugu Hearing

ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation and representative of Delta North Senatorial District, has firmly dismissed reports alleging that he abandoned delegates who attended the recent Constitution Review public hearing in Enugu to advocate for the creation of Anioma State.

In a strongly worded statement issued by his Media Office on Monday, the senator described the claims, published by an unnamed online platform, as “falsehood and sensationalism,” insisting they are part of a smear campaign orchestrated by a discredited publisher known for blackmail and fabricated narratives.

“It has become painfully predictable that this platform, under the editorial misadventure of its publisher, would again descend into the familiar gutter of sensationalism and manufactured falsehood,” the statement read. “The headline about Senator Ned Nwoko and Anioma is just another tired attempt by a man who has made it his full-time hustle to blackmail those he cannot understand or control.”

Senator Nwoko clarified that all delegates from Delta North who expressed interest in the Enugu hearing were fully supported by his office, with provisions made for transportation, feeding, accommodation, and other logistics.

“There was never any agreement or discussion about monetary compensation for attendance,” he stated. “No one was doing Senator Ned Nwoko a personal favour. They were speaking up for themselves, their children, their identity, and their future.”

He emphasized that his leadership in the Anioma State advocacy is based on conviction and collective will, not personal gain or political calculation.

“This is not my personal project,” the senator said. “It is a just cause that I have chosen to lead on behalf of my constituents. I do not and will not bribe people to support justice. I will never pay people to believe in their own self-determination.”

Senator Nwoko also took aim at the publisher of the online report, labeling him “a failed, discredited activist and career blackmailer” who has built a reputation on “doctored narratives and desperate clickbait headlines.”

Despite the attack, Nwoko reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Anioma State movement, vowing to continue championing the cause through legislative channels and principled advocacy.

“This is about justice, identity, and the right of Anioma people to be properly represented in the Nigerian federation,” he stated. “I remain resolute, focused, and accountable to the people of Delta North who have entrusted me with this mandate.”
