ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko has warmly welcomed Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and other key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as they formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, April 28, 2025.

In a press statement issued ahead of the official event, Senator Nwoko described the mass defection as a historic and symbolic step towards political progress and greater inclusion for Delta State and the Anioma people.

The high-profile reception, expected to be attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, was hailed by Nwoko as the beginning of a new political era for the state.

“Our people can no longer afford to be left in the margins of national politics,” Senator Nwoko said. “We must stand as key stakeholders at the very centre where decisions are made, where opportunities are created, and where the future of Nigeria is being shaped.”

Senator Nwoko, who had earlier defected to the APC, expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum towards progressive politics in Delta State. He noted that the defection of the governor, former governor, and other political structures would significantly strengthen the region’s relevance and influence on the national stage.

“The movement of the Governor, former Governor, and the broader political structure into the APC is not only significant, it is profoundly symbolic,” he emphasized. “Together, we will build a stronger New Delta, a prouder Anioma, and a better Nigeria.”

The senator, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the interests of Delta North and the Anioma nation through his roles as Chairman of the Senate Adhoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft and the Senate Committee on Reparation and Repatriation.

“As one who had the honour of making the transition earlier and fully settling into the progressive family with the singular aim of repositioning our dear Delta North and beloved Anioma nation, I am deeply encouraged by today’s development,” he said.

“With tremendous optimism, I welcome all our new members into the APC family. Together, we will drive development, foster inclusiveness, and ensure greater prosperity for our people,” Senator Nwoko concluded.
