Sapele: The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (Hostcom), Delta Central Chapter of Urhobo Ethnic Nationality, has inaugurated its local government executive officers at the Songhai Delta, Amukpe, Sapele, Delta State.
The officers who sworn to their oath of allegiance as administered on them by the Chairman of Delta Central Hostcom, Comrade Akponofuo Pemu Festus for the eight local government areas of Delta Central and Warri South Local Government Area are Comrade Ohwaguono Akpos – Chairman, Abobo Johnbull – Secretary for Ethiope West, Comrade Fine Omorohowovo
and M. Oborigho – Okpe Local Government Area, Edudu Lucky – Chairman, Sunday Omovie – Secretary, Ethiope East, Pemu Felix – Chairman and Newton Iwo – Secretary Sapele, Oghenekaro Nathaniel – Chairman Udu, Ghedi Eugene – Secretary Udu Local Government Area.
Others are Comrade Monday Onovughakpor – Chairman, Agare Oke – Secretary, Warri South, Pastor Avwadjuyo Jonathan – Chairman, Ughelli North, Elder Isaac Ibuakevwe – Chairman, Ughelli South and Mr. Gabriel Uti – Secretary, Ughelli South Local Government Area respectively and others.
Officers of the Delta Central that did the swearing-in of the above executive officers are Comrade Akponofuo Pemu Festus – Chairman, Comrade Bossman Omughele – Vice Chairman, Comrade Adidi Ese – Secretary, Comrade Eyuren Godspower O. – Asst. Secretary, Comrade

Mrs. Gladys Enawore – Asst. Woman Leader.
Other Officers of the Delta Central include, Chief Mrs. Mercy Awhana-Financial Secretary, Deaconess Anna Nikoro – Treasurer, Hon. Murphy Oleju – P.R.O., Comrade Harry Edafe – Publicity Secretary, Comrade Daniel Majemite – Organizing Secretary, Comrade Mrs. Newworld Otaide –Asst. Organizing Secretary and Comrade Ogheneochuko Paris – Provost.
The Hon. Commissioner for Science and Technology, Delta State, Hon. Joyce Overah, the State Chairman of Hostcom Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, Comrade Iweta Benjamin including the National Public Relations Officer of Hostcom, Chief D.O.D. Okereka, who were
special guest of honour at the epoch making event, while congratulating the newly inaugurated local government area officers for their appointments, charged them to live above board by upholding tenaciously every aspect of their constitution.
The trio reminded them in their respective speeches that they (new executive officers) should always be guided by the ideals of the body which is developmental drive to the Host Communities, adding that they should shun every form of corruption, personal interest and acts that are inimical to the growth of oil bearing communities while working in synergy with relevant authorities including their leaders to pursue all means that will fast track development to their respective local government area.
They charged them further to always work in tandem with their Delta Central leader, Comrade Akponofuo Pemu, who was carefully chosen to pilot the affairs of the body because of his pedigree and experience, affirming absolute confidence on his ability to perform by attracting
development to the oil bearing communities of Urhobo land, even as they appealed to other leaders of Urhobo land to give him their blessings, prayers and support for the onerous task ahead of him.
The elated Delta Central Chairman Comrade Akponofuo Pemu Festus soon after the inauguration of the local government area officers, pledged that he would not fail as the leader of the body but will do all it takes to maintain the confidence reposed on him by his people,
charging the newly sworn-in officers to keep faith in their course, by forging ahead to attract development to their various local government area, positing that there should be “no going back now that they have laid their hands on the plough”.
He appreciated Prince S.G. Kohwo, Comrade Green Adatire Aziza and other Urhobo leaders for their fatherly roles in Hostcom in Delta Central, while appealing to DESOPADEC and oil companies operating in the area to follow due process and rule of law in dealing with
communities/persons in contributing their quota towards the development of Urhobo (Hostcom) in Delta Central and Delta State in particular as enshrined in the law.
He reminded the people, that despite the legal processes they have, some persons are still illegally parading themselves as Hostcom Executives in the process misleading DESOPADEC and other oil and Gas companies in the area as he appealed to the commissioners representing
the Urhobo Ethnic Nationality to take note of this by stopping further dealings with such persons.
He pledged further, that his leadership of the Delta Central Hostcom is not to witch-hunt any person(s), companies, DESOPADEC or other government representation, but to make sure that what belongs to the communities for development are given to the communities.
Comrade Akponofuo affirmed that he will be a chairman fully dedicated to his duties and responsibilities to make a point before the end of his administration, stressing that he will not undermine the very constitution he sworn to uphold at the beginning of his administration
nor seek to remain in office unduly or through the back door.
Responding on behalf of other local government executive officers, Elder Isaac O. Ibuakevwe – Chairman, Ughelli South local government area Hostcom, commended the Urhobo nation for the confidence reposed on them to serve, promising that they will never betray that
confidence, assuring that they will go back home to their respective local government areas to work with their central leaders to fast track development to their communities without resting on their oars, while keeping the peace at all time by listening to their leaders.
