New Trade and Investment Commissioner Calls for Unity Among Civil Servants to Fulfill Governor’s Vision

ASABA/Nigeria: In a bid to harmonize efforts towards the realization of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s ambitious agenda for Delta State, the newly appointed Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon Samuel Oligida, has rallied civil servants within the ministry to work collaboratively.

Assuming office at the Prof Chike Edozien State Secretariat Complex on Mariam Babangida Way, Asaba, Hon Oligida wasted no time in outlining his commitment to the pursuit of the Governor’s vision. He engaged in a dialogue with the ministry’s management and staff during his introductory tour, guided by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Anthonia Ubogu.

In his address following the tour, he placed great emphasis on the concept of teamwork and stressed the imperative of cohesion among the ministry’s staff members. He underlined that his personal ambitions would take a backseat to the larger objective of supporting Governor Oborevwori’s MORE (Making Opportunities Real with Empowerment) initiative, designed to uplift the state and its citizens.

The Commissioner left no room for doubt regarding his commitment to addressing challenges collectively, aiming to foster an environment of optimal performance within the Trade and Investment Ministry. Notably, he made it clear that his approach would steer clear of divisive tactics and conflicts, and instead align closely with the promises Governor Oborevwori made to the people of Delta.

“We must work together; we must work as a team to achieve the vision of the governor,” Oligida asserted. “I do not have my personal vision other than to support the governor’s vision to excel. Therefore, I appeal to everybody to go the extra mile in assisting the governor.”

Oligida extended an olive branch to his colleagues, inviting constructive criticism and innovative ideas. He displayed his willingness to embrace suggestions that would contribute to his effectiveness as the overseer of Trade and Investment in Delta State.

“I have not come here to witch-hunt or fight anybody. I have not come here to create enmity among the staff,” he declared with conviction. “All I want is for us to work as a team because the governor is in a hurry to develop the state. Anytime I am going astray, feel free to tell me the truth. If I do anything that is negatively affecting the staff, please draw my attention to it. I will not do anything to deliberately hurt the staff.”

Furthermore, Oligida’s dedication to fostering an investor-friendly climate and invigorating growth in small and medium-scale businesses was palpable as he pledged to formulate policies to attract investors to the state.

Before Oligida’s address, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Anthonia Ubogu, reinforced the staff’s unwavering commitment to the government’s mission and its obligation to the people of Delta.
