ASABA/Nigeria: A non-profit organization, Concern for Peace and Society Survival (COPASS) today embarked on awareness creation on cervical cancer for women in Asaba at the Primary Health care centres.
The organisation also carried out free PAP Smear screening for women who were present at the event
the Coordinator of COPASS, Mrs Uche Onwuma, said that more than 70 women, benefited from the free PAP Smear Screening exercise.
“This is our third year of caring out this awareness and free screening events, this year we made some huge plus as we were able to gain the confidence of new partners,” she said
The coordinator appreciated the leadership and members of Rotary Club of Asaba GRA, District 9141 and Soroptimist International, Asaba Branch, for their commitments to support the future engagements of COPASS.
The high light of the occasion was award presentation made to some individuals in recognition of their zeal to supports the organization to fight against cancer.
Among those honoured were the Permanent Secretary, Government House and Protocol, Sir Eddy Ogidi Gbegbaje; his counterpart in the Ministry of Health, Dr Minnie Oseji; Dr Uche Okwe of the Ministry of Health; and Dr Bola Agbonle, a medical practitioner.
