OGHARA/Nigeria: Searchlight Initiative for Community Peace Advocacy and Rural Development in Nigeria (SICPARDN), a nongovernmental organization (NGO), has held a-one-day peace advocacy/lecture in Oghara the headquarters of Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta state.
The NGO, geared towards enhancing peaceful and crime-free society, said the lecture was on the continuation of enhancement lecture series on peace advocacy, security consciousness awareness campaign and re-induction /workshop on volunteer corps personnel and associate members in the 25 local government areas, begins in Ethiope West Local Government Area.
Men of high integrity and military personnel were invited as the lecture is designed to broaden the knowledge of all Nigerian with requisite knowledge to forestall crime through intelligence gathering.
In a key note address, the Director-General of SICPARDN, Mr Akinloye Ogunmodede, said the NGO’s task as nation builders was geared towards building a greater Nigeria by redirecting the youths who constitute the most active population to be patriotic and inculcating in them the spirit of dignity of labour and honesty.
Ogunmodede said that the organization in collaboration with security agencies in Nigeria would go a long way in championing the course of clearing security challenges facing the nation on daily basis, adding that the advocacy lecture was also to create awareness on the basic procedures for preventing crime in the society through community policing.
The director placed the success of the program on the partnership with the federal, state and local government who he said were usually sponsors and coordinators of people-oriented program, said that the mission of SICPARDN was to be the nation “watchdog ” by promoting peace, security to reduce crime to the barest minimum level in our society.
Some personalities present include John Orode, State Marshal Delta State; Dr Bashiru Sale, Marvis Emadu Secretary, Searchlight Multipurpose Cooperative, among others.
