ABUJA/Nigeria: The Niger Delta Progressive Women Worldwide (NDPW) has lauded Senator Ned Nwoko for his extraordinary achievements in his tenure of one year and five months in the National Assembly, describing him as a leader driven by the welfare and progress of his people.
Speaking on behalf of the group, National Coordinator Comrade Miebi Andakuro extolled the Senator’s vibrancy, influence, and exceptional rapport with his colleagues as key factors in his legislative successes. “Senator Nwoko is a man committed to the upliftment of his people, leveraging his connections and influence to better the lives of his constituents,” Andakuro remarked.
She highlighted the Senator’s proactive leadership and deep understanding of his constituency’s needs. “Since assuming office as Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Nwoko has implemented various empowerment programmes aimed at improving the standard of living for his people. He knows the needs of his constituents and takes bold steps to meet them,” she said.
Andakuro noted the Senator’s reputation for challenging norms and pushing boundaries, leaving a lasting impact not only in Delta North but across Nigeria. “Senator Nwoko has an ambitious vision that transcends his beginnings. He is known for taking risks and achieving meaningful societal impact against all odds,” she said, adding that his achievements have drawn national and international recognition.
Highlighting his legislative milestones, Andakuro pointed to key bills and initiatives, including the proposed upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Asaba, to a Federal University of Technology, and the drive for a link road connecting Oko in Oshimili South to Patani. The Senator’s advocacy for critical infrastructure projects, such as the Okpai Power Step Down Project and the completion of the Ogwashi-Uku dam, were also commended.
Further achievements listed by the group include pressing for repairs to the failed sections of the Asaba-Benin Highway and championing policies to eliminate the use of foreign currency in local business transactions. His motion for microblogging platforms to establish offices in Nigeria was cited as a move to boost the nation’s digital economy.
Andakuro also praised the Senator’s broader humanitarian efforts, particularly his campaign to eradicate malaria in Africa and his commitment to promoting sports through the establishment of a Sports University. “His philanthropic initiatives and diverse programmes showcase his leadership prowess and relentless ambition to elevate his constituents and Nigerians as a whole,” she said.
Reflecting on his career, Andakuro noted Senator Nwoko’s early achievements as a lawyer and politician, including his advocacy for Nigeria’s debt relief during his tenure as a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003. “He has always pursued causes others shy away from, demonstrating his dedication to addressing pressing challenges,” she remarked.
Describing the Senator as an embodiment of true leadership, Andakuro said: “From his achievements as a lawyer to his humanitarian gestures and political initiatives, Senator Nwoko’s relentless ambition is transforming lives and breaking barriers that hinder progress.”
