WARRI/Nigeria: As Nigeria attains 59yrs of nationhood, The Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the board of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Barr. John Obukowho Nani has called on Nigerians to exhibit high level of peaceful co-existence and Tolerance if we must get It right as a Nation.
In a goodwill message to commemorate Nigeria’s independence anniversary signed by his Principal Secretary, Comr. Odiri Milton Sagboje, Chief Nani congratulated Nigerians for being together as a nation for the past 59 years defying global predictions of her imminent disintegration. He called on every Nigerian to continuously pray for the nation and her leaders to drive the nation to an enviable height in the comity of nations.
“Our being together as a nation is uniquely designed by God hence we must exercise caution in our utterance about the nation. We may not be having it smooth now but we must collectively build on our weakness to raise a Nation that will pride itself as truly the giant of Africa, through peaceful co-existence and, religious and ethnic tolerance.”
“If Nigeria must attain her rightful place in the comity of Nations, we must do away with tribal sentiment, religious bigotry, misappropriation and misapplication of scarce resources and more importantly, pursue vigorously the value re-orientation of our people. The unity of this nation is non-negotiable thus we must see ourselves as one indivisible family bounded together by past sufferings and present freedom.”
While tasking Nigerians to be patriotic and pursue the Nation’s interest above parochial Interest at all time, as he urge every Nigerian to use this memorable occasion to have a sober reflections on the model laid down by our heroes past who fought tactfully and purposefully, knitted together and inspired by a collective struggle to put Nigeria at the forefront of nations in the world, and Pray for the Peace and unity of the country as we collectively seek an end to human rights violation, Environmental degradation and insecurity that will usher the nation to the desired eldorado.
“As we begin another journey of our nations growth, it is my belief that collectively, we will surmount the challenges of building a Nigeria & indeed a Delta State that is buoyant in human resources, sustainable socio-economic growth and massive infrastructural Development. May God bless Nigeria & prosper Delta State.” He added.
