LAGOS/Nigeria: The Buy Made in Nigeria Project Office in Abuja has announced two significant upcoming automotive events: the Buy Made in Nigeria Cars Expo and Exhibition in Abuja later this year, and the World Automobile and Automotive Expo in Tokyo, scheduled for January 2025. These expos aim to promote Nigerian-made automotive products on a global scale.
Spearheading these initiatives, the National Coordinator and Executive Director, Nwabueze Buchi George, highlighted the importance of these events in showcasing Nigeria’s automotive industry to an international audience. “This is a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s automotive sector,” Buchi George stated.
“Promoting locally produced goods will boost economic growth and enhance Nigeria’s global standing. The Buy Made in Nigeria Project is about more than just promoting local businesses; it’s about fostering economic development in line with global standards.”
Innoson Motors, a leading figure in Nigeria’s automotive industry, will head the Nigerian delegation at both expos. Buchi George praised Innoson Motors for its pioneering role and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of other supporting companies.
The Buy Made in Nigeria Cars Expo and Exhibition, a collaborative effort between the Buy Made in Nigeria Project Office Abuja and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), will also be hosted in East African countries including Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. A committee of partnering agencies has been formed to ensure the success of these events.
While the exact date for the Abuja expo is yet to be confirmed, the Tokyo event is set to take place from January 22-24, 2025. Buchi George emphasized Tokyo’s significance as a global hub for the automobile industry, stating that hosting the expo there will inspire substantial partnerships and development.
