EFFURUN: The students of VREI-Centre LSD Leadership School, Effurun-Warri study centre, have been charged to develop themselves on relevant skills for effective leadership, so as to change the Leadership narratives in Nigeria.
This charge was given by the Founding Executive Director, Centre LSD Abuja, Dr. Otive Igbuzor while delivering a lecture on ‘Introduction to Leadership’ to the 3rd set students of the centre, at Heartland Hotel, Effurun, Delta State.
Dr. Otive stated that been in leadership position does not make one a leader, and that conceptual skill, Technical skill, and Social skill are the three necessary skills required for an effective leadership.
He also highlighted the six ways by which one can become rich as Inheritance, Marriage, Stealing/Corruption, Gambling, Superstar, and Savings/Investment, saying that the surest is Savings/Investment, even as he maintained that for financial stability and management to be achieved, there must be financial plans, financial discipline and financial intelligent.
He further mentioned that the three stages of life are the Learning Stage, which is from 0-25, the Earning Stage, from 26-50, and the Enjoyment Stage, 51 and above, adding that children should not be thought only on how to work hard and read alone, but most importantly to be thought Character, Relationship with God and man, as well as Financial management.
He stressed that to be effective in Leadership, Intelligent alone is not enough, but emotional and political quotient also important, even as he urged the students to always build networking, especially among themselves for greater opportunities ahead, and stressed that in order to live a worthwhile and meaningful life, a person must be part of something greater than himself.
