IBADAN/Nigeria: In a passionate call for unity and action, the President of the National Youth Alliance (NYA), Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, has underscored the imperative for Nigeria’s youth to unite in propelling the nation towards sustainable growth and development.
Ambassador Abbas delivered this charge while inaugurating the Oyo State Chapter of NYA in Ibadan on Monday, signaling a pivotal moment in the quest for youth-driven progress in Nigeria.
“The youth are the future of Nigeria. Hence we must resolve to move this country forward through deliberate patriotic zeal,” Ambassador Abbas emphasized. “Key to achieving the desired goal of transforming the country into a global decider is unity. We must be united, knowing that our present crop of elders deviated from the path set by our founding fathers, and the ruling class mostly capitalizes on our disunity to keep the country in the dark.”
This rallying cry for unity was echoed by the NYA President’s spokesperson, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, who conveyed the message in a statement to newsmen on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
The statement further detailed Ambassador Abbas’s charge to the Oyo State NYA executive members, urging them to be beacons of light and individual role models to all they encounter.
Responding to the call, Adeniyi Ojo Adeniran, the NYA Coordinator for Oyo State, pledged unwavering commitment alongside his team to engage youth across the state. Their mission: to instill patriotism and foster a positive image of Nigeria on the global stage through various outreach programs.
Expressing gratitude for the trust bestowed upon them, Adeniran assured that the responsibility would not be taken lightly, emphasizing their dedication to the cause.
The inauguration ceremony in Ibadan also saw the induction of key officials into the Oyo State NYA leadership, including Morufu Alabi Kasumu as Vice State Coordinator, Sulaiman Kolawole Nurudeen as State Secretary, and Mrs. Oluwasehun Elugbaju as Assistant State Secretary.
Further additions to the executive team included Moruf Olanrewaju Abdul Azeez as State PRO, Akintunde Alliy Ogbonyabiona as Treasurer, Yusauf Sodiq as Organizing Secretary, Taiwo Ajasa as Financial Secretary, and Yemi Elegbeda as Auditor. Additionally, Hammed Eniola Ajoke and Muftau Mumini Ajagbe were enlisted as members, rounding out a dedicated team poised to lead the charge towards a brighter future for Nigeria’s youth.
