NIPR Delta State Chapter Set for 2026 AGM Public Lecture on Leadership, Accountability, Sustainable Development

ASABA/Nigeria: The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Delta State Chapter, has announced plans for its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) Public Lecture, with a focus on the critical role of leadership, accountability and public relations in driving sustainable national development.
The event, scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Maryam Babangida Leisure Park Multipurpose Hall, Asaba, will commence at 11:00 a.m.

According to an invitation released by the chapter, the lecture is themed: “Leadership, Accountability, and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: The Strategic Intersection of Public Relations for National Repositioning.”

The chapter said the public lecture is designed to bring together key stakeholders from government, academia, the public relations profession and other sectors to deliberate on the importance of responsible leadership, transparency and effective communication in advancing national development goals.

The Vice-Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Prof. Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, will serve as the keynote speaker, while Prof. Dode Robert Oghenedoro of Dennis Osadebay University will deliver the guest lecture.

The event is expected to attract a distinguished audience, including political leaders, policymakers, communication professionals, academics and members of the public.

Among the special guests expected at the event are the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; and Chairman of the Delta State Bureau for State Pensions, Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje.

Speaking on the significance of the lecture, the NIPR Delta State Chapter noted that the gathering would provide a platform for robust discussions on how public relations can serve as a strategic tool for promoting accountability, strengthening institutions, fostering trust in governance and supporting sustainable development in Nigeria.

The event forms part of activities marking the 2026 Annual General Meeting of the institute in Delta State and underscores the chapter’s commitment to advancing professionalism, ethical communication and excellence in public relations practice.
Chairman of the NIPR Delta State Chapter, Godfrey C. Osakwe, is expected to lead members of the institute in hosting participants and guests at the high-profile event.

The lecture is being organised with the office the Delta State Government, the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Petroleum Training Institute, among other stakeholders.
