Nkem Nwaeke Solicits Journalists’ Support for Legislature’s Visibility

WARRI/Nigeria: In a bid to elevate the visibility of the Delta State Legislature, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, called upon colleagues in the journalism profession for their support.

During his visit to the DBS Warri Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nwaeke expressed gratitude to members for their longstanding support. Having previously served as the Station’s Government House Correspondent and subsequently as the State Assembly Correspondent before his elevation, Nwaeke emphasized his commitment to maintaining and amplifying the virtues that led to his appointment as Chief Press Secretary to, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor.

“I was overwhelmed with calls and congratulatory messages, especially from the NUJ DBS Warri Chapel, after the Speaker announced my appointment as his Chief Press Secretary,” Nwaeke recounted during his address at the Edjeba-Warri office of the Establishment. He underscored his primary task: “My assignment is to give visibility to the Speaker of the Delta State Assembly and, by extension, the State Legislature as he is the head and symbol of the House.”

Acknowledging the critical role of DBS Warri in disseminating news about the Speaker’s stewardship to grassroots levels due to Guwor’s ties to Warri Federal Constituency, Nwaeke stressed the collective ownership of his appointment. “This appointment belongs to all of us. Together, we must succeed with it,” he affirmed.

Expressing gratitude to the Establishment’s staff and management for their past cooperation, particularly during his tenure as the Head of Asaba Operations of DBS Warri, Nwaeke pledged to continue as a worthy ambassador of the station.

Anticipating that the harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms in Delta State would foster good governance, he highlighted DBS Warri’s potential benefits from such conducive governance.

The General Manager, Pastor Malcolm Oteri, lauded Nwaeke’s achievement, hailing it as an honor for the entire establishment. “Nkem got to where he is today through commitment to assigned duties,” Oteri remarked, urging other staff members to persevere and stay dedicated.

Echoing this sentiment, key officials including Mrs. Itse Igboje, Mr. Linus Chima, and Comrade John Glover of the NUJ DBS Warri Chapel encouraged Nwaeke to uphold the station’s interests in his new role and serve as a beacon of dedication and professionalism.

They extended their appreciation to the Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, both regarded as quintessential Warri figures, for their role in approving Nwaeke’s appointment.

The gathering, attended by members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, DBS Warri Chapel, emphasized a collective commitment to fortify the visibility and reporting of the Delta State Legislature in collaboration with Nwaeke’s office.
