The just concluded election to the executive offices of the Ndokwa Neku Union, (NNU), was hijacked by politicians of Ndokwa, especially the accreditation exercise.
The chairman of the Electoral Committee, Dr. Austin. Atimoh Odili stated this in a press statement posted on Ndokwa Town Hall in the early morning of Thursday, 2 June, 2016.
According to Dr. Atimoh the exercise was a difficult one starting from the first date before it was postponed, and the difficult situation made him at a point decided to resign as the chairman of the committee.
“I must confess that the last election of NNU was a very difficult one, starting from the aborted date to the just concluded one”. He said.
Continuing, the electoral chairman, said that several times at the early stage of accreditation he went to the gate to see how well it was going, but was unfortunate that politicians infiltrated the process from the beginning, thus depriving most people from carrying out their civic duties.
“It is very true that politicians hijacked the process. They infiltrated the process from the beginning, regrettably”.
Dr. Atimoh, while agreeing that the process was flawed with irregularity, called on the people of Ndokwa to accept the outcome of the election, and move the Ndokwa nation forward, as the process of the election proper was transparent, despite the unfortunate occurrence on that day, as a bitter lesson had been learnt from the exercise.
“But it has come and there will always be tomorrow. Everyone has learnt a bitter lesson from our politicians who will forever approach issues as they did and will continue to do”.
“Ndokwa must move forward. The election has come and gone. Winners emerged. But there were no victors and no vanquished. Ndokwa is the ultimate winner”. He concluded.
