By Ambrose Ologide

WARRI/Nigeria: The Chairman of Nollywood, Delta State Chapter, Comrade Coxmas Uwadiale, has appreciated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over development of the industry in the state.

Uwadiale stated this in a media interaction with newsmen in Warri.

He noted that the Film Village project being embarked upon by Governor Okowa in the state would enhance the tourist potentials of Delta State in no distance time.

Uwadiale described the film village as a laudable project and advised that professionals should be involved in the execution of the project.

“2023 is around the corner. We pray that whoever that will take over from him (Governor Okowa) should continue and even improve on it,” Uwadiale added.

He had earlier posited that the industry, if adequately patronised could remove a lot of youths from the streets, adding that the industry could drastically reduce poverty and the high crime wave in the society.

He stressed that Nollywood was an employment generating industry through which the unemployed could earn a living without much stress, irrespective of academic qualifications.

“It is not just about acting; film directors, comedians, location managers, script writers, and what have you, are involved in the industry. It involves all aspects of entertainment, “he added.

Uwadiale therefore called on the unemployed, particularly the youths, to join the industry and earn a living for themselves without stress.

He also called on governments at all levels, politicians, corporate organisations and public spirited Nigerians to invest in it in order to improve on the economy of the country.
