Nollywood Producer Okonkwo Chijioke Junior Urges Focus on Children’s Content

LAGOS/Nigeria: Nollywood producer Okonkwo Chijioke Junior has urged industry professionals to prioritize children’s content in their productions. With a prolific career boasting over one hundred films, Chijioke highlighted the tendency of producers to prioritize financial success over fundamental values and long-term consequences.

“Neglecting the ripple effects of our actions could have future repercussions,” Chijioke warned. As a proponent of child-sensitive content, he emphasized its importance despite the challenges, asserting, “It’s worth it. You feel you are making the world a better place.”

Chijioke, founder of Bold Line Entertainment and manager of teen star Uchechi Treasure Okonkwo, known as Adakirikiri, questioned the safety of the future being built for children. He underscored the need for this discussion during the 2024 Children’s Day celebration, highlighting the competition between adults and children. “Some live for the moment without regard for the future, but that is crucial to me,” he stated.

Criticizing the industry’s focus on fleeting trends like body enhancement and overnight wealth, Chijioke asked, “Who will teach kids about investment, patriotism, and real-life issues? Someone needs to start telling them the truth.”

He urged his colleagues to recognize their responsibility in creating a safe future for children. “Even if we don’t have children, someone we know does. An injury to one is an injury to all,” he emphasized.

Known as Cjay, Okonkwo Chijioke Junior began his career in the entertainment industry as a music producer. He has produced and executive produced notable films such as Before My Eyes, Identical Difference, and Clare and Clarissa. He remains dedicated to promoting content that positively impacts the younger generation.
