NPDC/SEPLAT JV Distributes Empowerment Kits to 70 Grandaunts

SAPELE/Nigeria: NPDC/SEPLAT JV Skills Acquisition Training/Apprenticeship Scheme has graduated 70 youths in its 2017/2018 Seplat apprenticeship programme in Sapele.

The NPDC/SEPLAT JV Skills Acquisition Training/Apprenticeship Scheme was designed to promote acquisition of vocational skills and facilitate the spirit of creativity, self reliance and independence in the youth o the host communities.

The Scheme had the objective of increasing the employability of youths In Seplat’s operational areas, improve the standard of living, reduce poverty, unemployment, dependencies on crime, civil unrest, pipeline vandalism, militancy and other social vices, that ultimately translate into a peaceful and prosperous society for everyone.

Over the years, Seplat has been training and empowering youths from its host communities and this batch was the 5th, bringing the total number of youths trained and empowered to 196 since the inception of the programme.

Beneficiaries of the 5th batch were trained in Paint making, Home product and Toiletries, Welding and Fabrication, Fashion and Design, Motor Mechanic, Woodwork/Furniture making, Aluminium Works, Computer Training, Catering Services, Hair Dressing and in Integrated Farming, Fishery, Poultry and Piggery.

Highlight of the events was the commissioning and presentation of Starter Packs (Empowerment kits) to beneficiaries by the General Manager Operations Support, Mr Prince Chukwumah Igelenyah and the Base Manager, Western Assets, Mr Lucky Obiuwevbi.
