NUJ President, Isiguzo Restates Commitment To Weed Journalism Profession Of Quacks

ASABA/Nigeria: The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Chris Isiguzo has said that he would stop at nothing in his quest to weed the journalism profession of quacks, adding that years of treating the issue of quackery and lack of professionalism were gone.

He made this assertion while speaking to journalists on arrival at the Asaba International Airport, ahead of the biometric capturing of journalists in Delta as part of their NUJ registration’s requirements, which commences tomorrow the 8th of October through to 12th October 2019.

Isiguzo also commended the Delta State Council of NUJ, led by Comrade Michael Ikeogwu for showing leadership and partnering with the national body for the biometric exercise.

Speaking on the purported election of the national Exco of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), which was billed to hold in Port-Harcourt today, Isiguzo said nothing of such happened.

He therefore advised SWAN members and those seeking election into the group’s NEC to allow the constitution of the Union to prevail, adding that he would continue to stand on procedure.

Still maintaining his stance on professionalism, Isiguzo advised his colleagues at all levels to report only the truth at all times as a way of exerting their relevance and earning respect for the profession.

The National President of NUJ who landed the Asaba Airport at exactly 3:50pm and on transit to Awka in Anambra State for a programme, was received at the Asaba Airport by the Vice Chairman of NUJ Delta, Comrade Patrick Ochei and other members of the State Working Committee.
