OZORO/Nigeria: The newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Isoko North chapter, has applauded the council chairman, Godwin Ogorugba, for his fatherly role before, during, and after the union’s election.
Speaking during a thank-you and familiarisation visit to the chairman at the council headquarters in Ozoro on Tuesday, the newly elected NULGE chairman, Gideon Esime, expressed gratitude for the chairman’s support, particularly in ensuring a level playing field and providing security throughout the election process.
“We sincerely appreciate your support, sir, for ensuring fairness and security during the election. Like Oliver Twist, we will always ask for more, hoping that as we present our needs, you will consider them favourably,” Esime stated.
In his response, Ogorugba congratulated the new executives and urged them to be magnanimous in victory. He emphasized the need for unity within the union, stressing that inclusivity among members, irrespective of election affiliations, would foster stronger relationships and enhance productivity.
“No election is small, and I congratulate you on your victory. Throughout the process, I insisted on fairness, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to participate, just as we were all given the chance in our respective elections. We will carefully assess your requests and determine the best approach to addressing them,” Ogorugba assured.
He further reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-oriented policies that prioritize the welfare of the workforce and the general public.
