The former Director of Nursing Services Delta State, Ms Roseline Ufuoma Agogo has called on nurses and other medical practitioners in the state to be diligent and very focused while discharging their duties since their profession is all about the affairs of human being.
Ms Agogo who delivered her speech on the occasion of a reception party she organized for family members, friends and well wishers after a thanksgiving service at the Mountain of Fire Church Sapele for retiring from service after a 35 years meritorious service to the state, thanked God for seeing her through all these years in service without blemish.
She said her challenges during those days on service was when she moved from clinical service to educational aspect of nursing where she discovered that lots of the students now, are no longer interested in reading yet they want to be nurses as the profession itself involves a lot of reading.
Ms. Agogo noted that the challenges of giving them the orientation on how they could read well and pass their exams was a very big and tasking moment for her while advising the upcoming generation of nurses that nursing is not a profession for those that are not serious but it is a discipline you go for with all your mind which is the only way they can become successful nurses, otherwise they will fall by the way side, she said.
She commended the government in their attempt at moving the nursing profession forward but called on them too to do more by improving it better just as she called on all relevant body responsible to expedite action so that the school of nurses regains its accreditation and as well improve on all their schools facilities for a meaningful study environment.
She enjoins Christians to always give glory to God in whatever we do by having the fear of God in their mind as without God no one can do anything, adding that it is not by her own power that she is alive to celebrate her retirement from active service even though she has been contracted for two years more to teach at the state school of midwifery where she was a principal before moving to Asaba having been elevated as a Director of Nursing Services (DNS) until retirement.
She stressed that everybody irrespective of their profession need to hold God very firm before they could excel and as well live a successful life.
She appreciated the Delta State Government for given her and 9 others contract appointment to strengthen the educational system in Delta State, assuring that they will join forces together with the new appointment to take nursing profession to the next level in Delta State.
The duo of Mr. C.A. Oloriegbe principal school of nursing Eku and Mr. Ade Osasayi, lecturer, department of nursing Delta State University Abraka, described Ms Agogo as an icon of nursing who has worked very hard and very focused during her tenure as the director of Nursing Services where she made a lot of inroad into most of the challenges they have in the nursing services in Delta State though her time in the office was for a brief moment while thanking God that she was able to surmount most of their insurmountable problems while in office despite her intervening variables and obstacles as they were able to achieve a lot during her tenure.
They thank God that she is retiring very young with more life and still ready to contribute her quota to the development of humanity, while advising those in service that they should not forget that one day they will retire and that they should work hard by living harmonious with one another believing that one day they will still meet each other.
