ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed his congratulations to Mr. Eze Anaba, the Editor of Vanguard Media Limited, on his successful election as the President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE).
Anaba emerged victorious during the 2023 National Biennial Convention of the NGE, held in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
Anaba’s election comes following the conclusion of Mr. Mustapha Isah’s tenure from the Silverbird Group. In a tightly contested race, Anaba secured 250 votes, defeating his sole opponent, Bolaji Adebiyi, formerly of Thisday Newspapers, who garnered 81 votes.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori praised Mr. Anaba for his well-deserved triumph. The Governor acknowledged Anaba’s significant contributions to the Guild as the Social and Publicity Secretary, which paved the way for his ascent to the prestigious position.
Governor Oborevwori commended the Convention’s theme, “Post 2023 Election: Promoting Professionalism for Enhancement of Democracy and Good Governance,” describing it as fitting and crucial for fostering democracy and good governance at the national and sub-national levels of government in the country.
The Governor highlighted the entire Guild membership’s praiseworthy decision in electing Mr. Anaba as President, recognizing his invaluable contributions to the field of journalism. Oborevwori regarded Anaba as a role model who has demonstrated his competence in the profession, viewing his election as an inspiration for aspiring journalists aiming to make their mark.
Governor Oborevwori conveyed his felicitations to Mr. Eze Anaba on behalf of the Government and people of Delta State. He expressed his hope that Anaba would utilize his extensive experience in media management and his extensive network in the public and private sectors to advance not only the Guild’s objectives but also the journalism profession.
