ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured civil servants that his administration will soon appoint new Permanent Secretaries, stressing that the process will be based on merit, due diligence, and divine direction.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service in honour of the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, held at the Church of God Mission, Asaba Bishopric Headquarters, on Sunday, the Governor praised the integrity and dedication that have defined Dr. Oseji’s career. He described her rise in the civil service as a testimony to divine favour rather than mere human effort.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the selection of new Permanent Secretaries would be thorough and transparent, guided not just by procedural standards but by spiritual discernment.
“Dr. Oseji came into this position with integrity, and we pray that she leaves with the same,” the Governor said. He encouraged civil servants to emulate her dedication and urged all public officials to cultivate a spirit of gratitude, referencing Psalm 100:4 as a reminder to approach leadership with thanksgiving and humility.
The Governor also condemned the practice of age falsification in the civil service, warning that such unethical behavior hinders the recruitment of younger, more dynamic professionals. He expressed full support for the ongoing screening and age verification exercise by the Civil Service Commission, noting that it is a step towards restoring credibility and efficiency in public service.
Dr. Oseji, in her remarks, expressed deep gratitude to God and to the Governor for the opportunity to serve at the highest echelon of the state’s civil service. Reflecting on her early days as a young medical officer, she said she never imagined she would one day attain the position of Head of Service.
She congratulated Governor Oborevwori on his second anniversary in office and acknowledged the spiritual tone set by the administration through regular prayers at the Government House Chapel, which she said have contributed to the state’s successes.
Delivering the sermon, Bishop Nathaniel Mordi, Bishop Emeritus of the Church of God Mission, urged the congregation to keep Christ at the center of their lives. He praised Dr. Oseji’s faith and professionalism, urging her to continue being a light in public service.
The service ended with special prayers for Governor Oborevwori and his administration, asking for divine guidance and continued success in leading Delta State.
The Governor was accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori; the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme; his wife, Ezinne Catherine Onyeme; and other top government officials.
