
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured Deltans of better days ahead, declaring that his administration has laid a solid foundation to significantly improve the living conditions of the people in the coming year and beyond.
The governor gave the assurance in his Christmas 2025 message to residents of the state, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, where he described the yuletide season as a period of renewed hope, reflection and confidence in the future.
Governor Oborevwori said the celebrations provide an opportunity to reassure the people that his administration remains firmly committed to delivering good governance, inclusive development and people-focused policies in line with the MORE Agenda.
He disclosed that deliberate and robust provisions have been made in the 2026 Delta State budget to consolidate ongoing projects and accelerate development across all sectors of the state’s economy. According to him, the budget prioritises infrastructure expansion, job creation, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment as key drivers of sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
“The 2026 budget has been carefully designed to consolidate on our gains and address the most pressing needs of our people. It underscores our determination to improve the quality of life of Deltans and ensure that development touches every community,” the governor stated.
Oborevwori noted that the achievements recorded in the last two years, particularly in road construction, flyover projects, healthcare delivery, education reforms and human capital development, are clear indicators that the state is on the right path. He added that sustained investments in workers’ welfare, peacebuilding and social intervention programmes for vulnerable groups, including widows, women and youths, have helped to promote stability and boost economic activities across the state.
While calling on Deltans to embrace the values of love, unity and compassion associated with Christmas, the governor commended residents for their resilience, cooperation and support, describing them as critical partners in the state’s development journey.
He reaffirmed his pledge to remain focused on people-oriented programmes and projects, assuring that no community would be left behind as the state government intensifies efforts to deliver lasting development and prosperity to all Deltans.He urged Deltans to continue to support his administration and to uphold peace, tolerance and unity, noting that collective effort remains vital to achieving the state’s long-term development plans.
While wishing residents a joyful Christmas celebration, the governor prayed for a peaceful and prosperous New Year, expressing confidence that Delta State would witness greater progress and economic opportunities in the years ahead.
“Christmas reminds us of the power of hope and the triumph of light over darkness. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, let us work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Delta State for present and future generations,” the statement added.
