
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured that justice will be served following the killing of a yet-to-be-identified young woman in Abraka, allegedly shot by security operatives during a chase of suspected criminals.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor described the incident as “very unfortunate” and avoidable, stressing that adherence to operational standards by security agents would have prevented the tragedy.
The victim was reportedly struck by a stray bullet and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The incident has since sparked outrage and grief within the community.
Governor Oborevwori condoled with the bereaved family and urged the people of Abraka to remain calm as investigations progress. He also charged security agencies in the state to act with restraint and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, warning against actions that could lead to the needless loss of innocent lives.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property across Delta State, the Governor emphasized that accountability and justice would not be compromised in the handling of the matter.
