ASABA/Nigeria: As Nigeria prepares to celebrate its 64th Independence Anniversary, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has called on Nigerians to continue praying for the nation’s peace and unity. The governor made this appeal during a special Jumat service on Friday at the Central Mosque in Cable Point, Asaba, where Muslim faithful gathered to offer prayers for the country.
Represented by the Chairman of the Delta State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwal Tukur, Governor Oborevwori acknowledged the challenging times Nigerians are facing but expressed optimism that through collective prayers, the nation would overcome its current difficulties.
“Nigerians are going through tough times, but with prayers, we can rise above this hardship,” the governor stated. He added that his administration is making efforts to alleviate the suffering of Delta State residents through the implementation of people-centered policies and programs under his MORE Agenda, aimed at improving the well-being of Deltans.
Highlighting the importance of peace, Governor Oborevwori urged residents to foster unity and peaceful coexistence, stressing that such harmony is essential for the sustainable development and growth of the state.
“I call on all Nigerians to continue praying for our country,” he said. “We must promote peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups, not just in Delta State but across the country, to fast-track socio-economic development.”
The Chief Imam of Asaba, Alhaji Umaru Aliyu Katsina, who spoke through Hon. Bawa Abdullahi, emphasized the significance of peace in his sermon. He prayed for Almighty Allah to bless Nigeria with lasting peace and a stable economy that would bring relief to its citizens.
The Jumat service marked an important moment of reflection as Nigeria approaches its 64th year of independence, with leaders and citizens alike urged to remain steadfast in their prayers for the nation’s future.
