ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his congratulations to Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 64th Independence anniversary, urging all citizens to unite in overcoming the nation’s pressing economic and security challenges.
In a statement issued from Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori emphasised the importance of national cohesion, regardless of political, religious, and ethnic differences. He called on Nigerians to rally behind efforts aimed at addressing the country’s current difficulties.
The Governor sent warm greetings to President Bola Tinubu, Deltans, and all Nigerians, stressing the need for collective action to support government initiatives aimed at rescuing the nation from insecurity and economic hardship.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I congratulate Nigerians as we celebrate the 64th anniversary of our country’s independence,” Oborevwori stated. He highlighted the progress made since 1999 in maintaining uninterrupted democratic governance, urging continued commitment to strengthening the gains achieved over the past 25 years.
He further remarked, “October 1st is a day to celebrate and pay tribute to our countrymen and women who sacrificed so that we can enjoy this freedom; we must never forget the sacrifices of our heroes past.”
Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey, the Governor acknowledged the nation’s endurance through various economic, security, and political challenges, emphasising the need for resilience, patience, and faith in both divine guidance and the country’s leaders during these testing times.
Governor Oborevwori also took the opportunity to highlight the achievements of his administration, noting that significant progress has been made in delivering on the promises of his MORE Agenda, which aims to improve the lives of Deltans. “Since we assumed office on 29th May 2023, we have made notable strides in making life more meaningful for our people,” he said.
As the nation marks this year’s Independence anniversary, Governor Oborevwori reassured the people of Delta that his administration remains committed to fulfilling its development objectives. “Be assured that we will stay focused on delivering our M.O.R.E Agenda to Deltans,” he concluded.
