Oborevwori Celebrates Dame Edith Okowa at 65, Hails Her Humanitarian Legacy

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has felicitated Dame Edith Okowa, wife of former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on the occasion of her 65th birth anniversary, describing her as a compassionate humanitarian whose selfless service has touched countless lives across the state and beyond.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Monday, Governor Oborevwori commended the former First Lady for her remarkable contributions to healthcare, social welfare and human development, noting that her enduring commitment to the wellbeing of vulnerable groups has left an indelible mark on Delta State.

The Governor particularly lauded Dame Okowa’s humanitarian interventions through the O5 Initiative Foundation, which he said transformed lives through various healthcare programmes, empowerment schemes and social support initiatives targeted at the less privileged.

He praised her unwavering advocacy for persons living with sickle cell disorder, recalling her efforts in establishing sickle cell clinics in hospitals across the state and providing healthcare assistance, economic support and livelihood opportunities for vulnerable individuals and families.

According to the Governor, Dame Okowa’s dedication to service, compassion for humanity and commitment to improving the lives of others have earned her widespread admiration and respect, adding that her contributions remain enduring legacies that will continue to benefit society for generations.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I heartily congratulate Her Excellency, Dame Edith Okowa, as she marks her 65th birthday. May the Almighty continue to bless her with good health, long life, and renewed strength to continue her selfless service to humanity,” Oborevwori stated.

He wished the former First Lady many more years of fulfilment, happiness and impactful service, while expressing appreciation for her invaluable contributions to the development, welfare and wellbeing of the people of Delta State.
