OMADINO/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has underscored the vital role of effective education in curbing crime, stressing that increased investment in the sector could significantly enhance security by reducing criminal activities.
Speaking after inspecting the ongoing construction of the Model Technical College, Omadino, in Warri South Local Government Area, Oborevwori emphasized that access to quality education creates credible opportunities for young people, steering them away from crime and fostering a safer society.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure, supporting teachers, and promoting inclusive learning, the governor noted the importance of sustained efforts in the sector.
While expressing dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the project, he remained hopeful that contractors would make the necessary adjustments to meet expectations.
“I have said that education is my priority, and we are using it to checkmate crime. We are doing things that will make people stay away from criminal activities. Education is very important to us, and I will continue to encourage effective learning,” Oborevwori stated.
He assured Deltans of his administration’s resolve to build on the foundation for future growth and prosperity in the state.
“There are other technical schools that are ongoing, like the one in Kiagbodo, which is progressing. For the one in Bomadi, we have asked the contractor to return to site,” he added.
