ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, congratulated the newly elected Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo.
The Governor made this during a courtesy visit by the new Speaker and his deputy to the Governor at the Government House in Asaba, where he expressed his readiness to collaborate with the legislature to ensure the successful implementation of his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda.
Governor Oborevwori, drawing from his experience as a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, emphasized the significance of executive-legislative relations in a constitutional democracy. He expressed confidence in the capability of the 8th Assembly to meet the expectations of the people of Delta State, highlighting the experience and knowledge of the returning members. The Governor advised the new leadership to promote unity among all members and work for the progress and peace of the state.
In response, Speaker Guwor thanked the Governor for the opportunity to lead the 8th Delta State House of Assembly. He assured the Governor of the continued support and cooperation of the House in implementing the M.O.R.E Agenda.
Guwor also acknowledged Governor Oborevwori’s previous tenure as Speaker, pledging to emulate his inclusive leadership style. He emphasized that the legislature would maintain a constructive relationship with the executive, working together for the benefit of the people of Delta State.
