Oborevwori Extols the Resilience of Deltans and Nigerians on Democracy Day

ASABA/Nigeria: Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Delta State Governor, has expressed his felicitations to the people of Delta State and Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, which is celebrated annually on June 12.

In a goodwill message conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Festus Ahon, the governor emphasized the significance of celebrating Democracy Day in light of the smooth and peaceful transition from one civilian administration to another.

Governor Oborevwori acknowledged the strengthening of Nigeria’s democracy, particularly with the improvements in the nation’s electoral laws. He encouraged citizens to take advantage of these reforms by choosing leaders of their choice for the purpose of good governance in the country.

Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the uninterrupted civil rule experienced in Nigeria since the return of democracy in 1999, which allowed Nigerians to elect their leaders and pursue good governance. He noted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been given the opportunity to govern Delta State since 1999, and successive administrations have strived to enhance infrastructure and human capital development in the state. The governor assured that his administration would continue to build upon these achievements through their MORE Agenda.

He called upon all Deltans and Nigerians to maintain hope, expressing confidence that the nation’s challenges would be overcome through prayer, cooperation, mutual understanding, and unity of purpose between the leaders and the citizens. Governor Oborevwori concluded by praying for God’s blessings upon Delta State and Nigeria as they progress on their democratic journey.

The governor extended his congratulations on behalf of his family, the government, and the people of Delta State, emphasizing the need to honor those who played a vital role in ending military dictatorship and establishing democracy in Nigeria. He regarded them as the heroes of the nation’s democracy, expressing his prayer that their sacrifices would not be in vain.
