ASABA/Nigeria: As the 2023 General Elections draw close, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has taken out time to talk to the press about his agenda for Deltans, pledging to serve all, irrespective of political affiliation.
He also pledged to be fair, just and accessible to all, assuring that he had the capacity to make Delta State and also do more for the future generation through his MORE agenda.
The PDP governorship candidate, who used the platform to explain the philosophy of his MORE agenda, said under his watch as governor, there would meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms and enhanced peace and security.
His vision, he noted, was to entrench sustainable development and lasting peace, calling on the voting public to bring in all PDP candidates in the various state constituencies to the national assembly, governorship and presidency, which he tagged five over five.
According to him, such voting pattern was the sure means to rescue Nigeria from what he referred to as unimaginable mystery the country was going through, saying that with the PDP, insecurity, economic woes and corruption would be addressed.
In explaining allegation of loan burden on the state government brought about by the assembly, Oborevwore said that the loans were tied to project, saying that the funds had already been approved since April, 2022.
He said that what happened recently was legislative adjustment by the house to suit the new partnership arrangement of the discounting of the funds coming from the federal government expected in tranches for five years.
The speaker said that due to the negative effects of inflation, the house approved the state government’s request to discount part of the funds to cater for some legacy projects, saying that many of the benefitting states had collected their funds through the same discounting instrument.
On why former Governor James Ibori had not openly endorsed him, Oborevwori said that Chief Ibori was a national leader who regarded everyone as his own and father of all.
While making reference to the All Progressives Party (APC) candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who was accused of con centrating development in his home town, Orogun as Senate President, Oborevwori said that he was not elected by Osubi People alone but the entire Okpe Local Government Area.
He added that he would not be standing for the governorship position if he chose to concentrate developmental efforts in Osubi, insisting that even as speaker, he ensured that bills enjoyed meaningful spread across Delta State.
In giving vent to the ‘Street Credibility’ slogan, the PDP Delta State candidate explained that it was coined from his street wisdom in dealing with street people, being accessibility and provision of local content to the grassroots.
