ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged the newly inaugurated member representing Udu State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ator Okolosi, to make effective representation and service to his constituents the priority of his mandate.
Oborevwori gave the charge on Tuesday when he received Okolosi at the Government House, Asaba, alongside the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and other political leaders from Udu Local Government Area.
Okolosi emerged victorious in the Udu State Constituency bye-election conducted on September 19, 2026, securing 8,724 votes to win the seat for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was subsequently sworn in as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly during Tuesday’s plenary, with Speaker Guwor administering the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Membership.
Receiving the new lawmaker, Governor Oborevwori congratulated him on his election and inauguration, while acknowledging the outcome of the poll in Udu.
The governor urged Okolosi to regard the mandate as a responsibility to the entire constituency and demonstrate through his legislative activities that the confidence placed in him by the electorate was well founded.
Oborevwori also encouraged the lawmaker to remain committed to the principles of the APC and work with other members of the Assembly towards initiatives capable of improving the welfare and development of the people of Udu.
The governor’s remarks came a day after Okolosi received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Asaba. At the presentation, INEC officials reminded him that his responsibility extended beyond party affiliation to the representation of all constituents.
The Udu seat became vacant after the Delta State House of Assembly declared it vacant following the departure of the former occupant, Collins Egbetamah, from the APC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), leading to the September 19 bye-election.
Responding to the governor, Okolosi expressed appreciation to Oborevwori, Speaker Guwor, APC leaders and other stakeholders for their support during the electoral process and his subsequent inauguration.
He also acknowledged the contributions of party members and other stakeholders who, according to him, played roles in his emergence as the new representative of Udu State Constituency.
With his inauguration, Okolosi has taken his place in the eighth Delta State House of Assembly, where he is expected to participate in legislative proceedings and represent the interests of the people of Udu Constituency for the remainder of the Assembly’s tenure.
