ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed profound gratitude to Deltans and Nigerians for the overwhelming show of love and goodwill during his recent 62nd birthday celebration.
Speaking at the Government House Chapel, Asaba, during a thanksgiving and praise session on Monday, the Governor described the flood of kind messages, prayers, and goodwill as deeply touching and uplifting.
Quoting Psalm 100:4, Oborevwori said: “We enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. That is what I have come to do — to thank God.”
He thanked political associates, friends, well-wishers, and citizens across the country for their prayers, thoughtful adverts in newspapers, and warm messages on television and radio. “Even those who didn’t support me politically still wished me well. That shows a deep level of love and maturity. I thank you all,” he said.
The Governor revealed he had tried to keep the birthday low-key, joking that close friends and his wife conspired to celebrate him despite his efforts to avoid a party. “I was even a bit upset at first, but their love and persistence moved me,” he said with a smile.
Calling for unity and continued prayers for the state, Oborevwori urged Deltans to remain focused on collective progress. “Let us stay united. You cannot pray and then turn around to curse. With unity, more development will come. The love you have shown me must be repaid with service and appreciation,” he said.
He concluded with a prayer for peace and blessings for all who celebrated with him, acknowledging that only God can truly reward such love.
