Oborevwori to Decentralize Delta Direct Labour Agency for Effective Road Maintenance

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced plans to decentralize the operations of the State Direct Labour Agency (DLA) as part of efforts to enhance road maintenance and infrastructure development across the state.

Speaking during an unscheduled visit to a three-day retreat organized for the agency’s personnel at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the need for a more efficient approach to road repairs in line with his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda.

“I have come here today on an unscheduled visit to see what you are doing, and I am happy seeing all of you here,” the governor stated. “Some of the takeaways from this retreat, including the issue of decentralization of the DLA, would be given the due attention they deserve.”

Established as an interventionist agency, the DLA is tasked with maintaining and repairing failed portions of roads across the state. With the planned decentralization, the agency is expected to operate with improved efficiency and responsiveness to road infrastructure challenges.

The retreat, led by the Director-General of the agency, Engr. Emmanuel Ighomena, aims to equip personnel with modern techniques to enhance service delivery and ensure a sustainable road maintenance culture in Delta State.
