OWHELOGBO/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged Permanent Secretaries and top management of the Delta State Civil Service to uphold professionalism and positively impact the state with their services. The Governor made this call at the 60th birth anniversary and retirement thanksgiving of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engineer Frederick Edafioghor, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Owhelogbo in Isoko North Local Government Area.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of leaving an impactful legacy in service, stating that sustainable excellence in service delivery outweighs short-lived instant gains. He congratulated Engr. Edafioghor for his dedicated service, successful retirement, and attaining 60 years, urging him to continue offering professional advice for the growth and development of the state.
Acknowledging the retired Permanent Secretary’s contributions to infrastructural development in the state, Governor Oborevwori thanked him for his role in bringing Julius Berger to execute road and flyover projects in Warri and its environs. He assured stakeholders of his administration’s commitment to continuous improvement and solicited their contributions to fast-track the state’s all-round development.
Describing Engr. Edafioghor as a thoroughbred professional, the Governor urged serving officers to remain committed to delivering quality service for the benefit of the people of Delta State. He emphasized the importance of finishing well in one’s service, highlighting the need to focus on the impact made rather than personal gain.
In a homily during the event, Rev. Fr. Paul Ebezeme emphasized the significance of thanksgiving in attracting more blessings from God. He advised Engr. Edafioghor to use the remaining days of his life for selfless service to God and humanity, citing the first Sunday of Lent as a time for fasting, almsgiving, and charity work.
Engr. Edafioghor, in his remarks, thanked God for his 60th birthday and successful retirement. He commended Governor Oborevwori and his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for the opportunity to make an impact in the works sector and pledged to continue giving his best in future endeavors.
