Oborevwori Urges PDP Chairman to Foster Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

WARRI/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, to prioritise unity within the party and across the state as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to take shape.

Governor Oborevwori delivered this charge during a thanksgiving service held at Avenue Baptist Church, Okumagba Avenue, Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area. The service was organised by Chief Arenyeka to express gratitude to God for his emergence as the PDP Chairman in Delta State.

Citing Psalm 100:4, Governor Oborevwori emphasised the spiritual significance of thanksgiving. “Thanksgiving and praise are divine commandments,” he said. “When we thank God, we acknowledge His deeds and express trust in what He will continue to do. Your presence here today is an act of faith and gratitude, and I assure you that greater blessings will follow.”

The Governor attributed Chief Arenyeka’s elevation to divine will and underscored the responsibilities that come with leadership. “Leadership is never without challenges. As Chairman, you will face pressures, but always remember to do what is just and right for the people. Your humility, maturity, and the love you have earned from the people make you well-suited for this role,” he said.

Highlighting the Chairman’s inclusive leadership style, Governor Oborevwori noted the presence of individuals from diverse political backgrounds at the thanksgiving service. “Even today, members from across various divides, including the opposition, have gathered to celebrate with you. This is a testament to your leadership and the hope you bring to us all,” he added.

The Governor charged Chief Arenyeka to lead with a vision of peace, progress, and prosperity for Delta State, expressing confidence that his leadership would guide the party to greater accomplishments in 2027 and beyond. “Your position is not just about administration; it is about fostering unity within the state. By God’s grace, your leadership will bring about the dividends of democracy to every corner of our state,” he said.

In his sermon titled “Appreciating God Beyond the Sacrifice,” Revd. Dr. Sylvester Ogheneakpobo, Lead Pastor of Avenue Baptist Church, underscored the importance of gratitude, stating that “it is a good thing to thank God for all He has been doing in our daily lives.”

The event was graced by notable figures, including Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, immediate past Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and several Members of the House of Representatives. Other attendees included Senator James Manager, Chief Ighoyota Amori, Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, and Rev. Dr. Nathan Thikan, President of the Providence-Delta Baptist Conference, among others.

Governor Oborevwori concluded by urging everyone to embrace thanksgiving as a pathway to greater blessings, expressing hope for Chief Arenyeka’s leadership to foster unity and advance Delta State’s development.
