Oborevwori Warns Civil Servants Against Certifying Uncompleted Projects

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring accountability and value for all government projects, vowing not to tolerate any official certifying uncompleted or substandard projects for payment

Governor Oborevwori made this declaration on Sunday during a retirement thanksgiving service in honor of Mrs. Joy Enwa, the Permanent Secretary and Accountant-General of the Delta State Ministry of Finance, at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Asaba.

He disclosed that two engineers had already been queried for issuing certificates for uncompleted projects and assured that due process would be followed in addressing the situation.

“I am very, very angry at what civil servants are doing,” the governor stated. “Two civil servants have been issued queries for issuing certificates for jobs that have not been completed and payments made. Next week, I will announce their names and follow the proper process. In this government, if you do well, you will have more opportunities, but if you do wrong, there will be consequences.”

Oborevwori emphasized that his administration’s goal is to ensure that Deltans receive full value for every project executed. He highlighted his administration’s responsiveness to workers’ welfare, including the payment of promotion arrears of over N5.6 billion and the implementation of the new national minimum wage.

The governor also congratulated Mrs. Enwa on a successful career, describing her retirement as a testament to a life of dedication and service.

In a sermon titled “The Choice of a Good Name,” Rt. Rev’d Kingsley Obuh, Bishop of the Diocese of Asaba, underscored the importance of integrity and leaving lasting legacies. He commended Governor Oborevwori for his developmental strides and urged him to remain steadfast in the pursuit of his MORE agenda.

Mrs. Enwa was celebrated by dignitaries, friends, and colleagues, who praised her commitment and integrity throughout her service to Delta State.
