BEIJING/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of oil-rich Delta State has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to place the state on the path of global competitiveness through accelerated infrastructure development and economic advancement.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with the top management of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) at the company’s global headquarters in Beijing, Oborevwori unveiled his comprehensive development agenda aimed at transforming Delta’s infrastructure, boosting the economy, and empowering the people to thrive on the international stage.

The governor, who was accompanied by the state Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, and his Technical Assistant, Engineer Bob Nakpodia, stressed that his vision is anchored on sustainable growth, economic diversification, and an improved standard of living for all Deltans.

“At the heart of our M.O.R.E Agenda is a firm commitment to revamp and modernize Delta’s infrastructure because we recognize its pivotal role in driving economic development and enhancing quality of life,” Oborevwori stated.

He highlighted his administration’s strides in expanding and modernizing road networks, constructing bridges, upgrading public transportation, and improving connectivity between upland and riverine communities that were once difficult to access.

Recalling the longstanding partnership between Delta State and CCECC, Oborevwori used the platform to showcase his administration’s strategy to diversify the state’s economy, strengthen its finances, and attract sustainable investments. The governor and his team were also taken on a tour of CCECC’s digital exhibition rooms, where they viewed several landmark infrastructure projects executed by the company across Africa.

Welcoming the Delta delegation, CCECC President Chen Sichang lauded the warm and productive relationship between the corporation and Delta State. He noted that since entering Nigeria in 1981, CCECC has delivered numerous infrastructure projects in rail, roads, bridges, buildings, and erosion control, creating employment opportunities for hundreds of Nigerians.

Mr. Sichang commended Governor Oborevwori’s leadership style, describing him as a leader with a strong commitment to quality project delivery and prudent financial management—qualities that align with CCECC’s own values and standards.
