ASABA/Nigeria: Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Chairman, Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, Olorogun Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, spoke on Wednesday as a guest of Quest Radio and Television combined live public affairs program in Ughelli, and monitored across the state. During the program, he shared his thoughts on Delta state Governor, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori’s inaugural speech, emphasizing that it showed the governor’s readiness to upscale commercial activities in the state through multifaceted infrastructure development.
According to Oghenesivbe, Warri is the commercial nerve of the state, and the governor’s planned focus to develop it will open up local and foreign investments, facilitate federal government attention in revamping Warri and Koko Ports. If Warri bounces back in commercial terms, it will create jobs and boost revenue earnings for the state and private sector players.
Oghenesivbe also spoke about the Agricultural sector, stating that the immediate past governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, laid a good foundation, especially in oil palm produce and others, which Governor Oborevwori promised to build upon. He advised the government to inject funds into the sector through organized farmers cooperative societies across the state. He also suggested that the Youth Agriculture Entrepreneurship Program (YAGEP) should be well funded to complement Farmers Cooperative society’s efforts in the sector, adding that self-sufficiency in food production is key to the prosperity and wellbeing of the people.
Furthermore, Oghenesivbe commended Governor Oborevwori for directing petrol dealers and marketers in the state to maintain the status quo in pump price of fuel, so as not to inflict economic hardship and high cost of transportation on residents in the state before the actual commencement date of fuel subsidy removal.
In conclusion, Oghenesivbe assured the people of Delta State that Governor Oborevwori, being a caring leader with street credibility, will continue to do the needful to advance Delta through his MORE agenda, continually be on the side of the masses and the good people of Delta State.
