ASABA/Nigeria: Members of the College of Executive Assistants to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governor for second terms in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was adopted at a strategic meeting of the College in Asaba on Wednesday, following a motion moved by Engr. Efe Ugbarugba and seconded by Olorogun Efeturi Ono-Sorhue.
The motion was put to a voice vote by the Chairman of the College, Hon. Misan Ukubeyinje, and received unanimous approval from members present.
Explaining the decision, Ukubeyinje said the College based its position on its assessment of the policies and programmes of the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations, particularly in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, social intervention, institutional reforms, security and road development.
He said the endorsement was not driven by personal relationships or political convenience but by what members considered measurable activities and interventions by the two administrations.
According to him, the College believes that elections should provide an opportunity for citizens to assess the performance of governments, including what they have achieved, what remains unfinished and their capacity to deliver on ongoing projects.
“Where a government has demonstrated measurable efforts, responsibility and capacity, the reasonable thing to do is to acknowledge that performance and give such government an opportunity to consolidate on its good work,” Ukubeyinje said.
He said members had reviewed what he described as the performance indicators of the federal and state governments before arriving at the decision to support continuity.
Ukubeyinje said the College would now move beyond the endorsement to an organised mobilisation campaign aimed at taking the administrations’ reported achievements to communities across Delta State.
He listed media engagements, public communication, grassroots mobilisation, canvassing and door-to-door outreach among the strategies being considered ahead of the 2027 elections.
The College Chairman said members would also mobilise support for other APC candidates contesting the Senate, House of Representatives and Delta State House of Assembly elections.
He particularly commended the Tinubu administration’s economic reform programme and said the College believed the reported interventions at the federal and state levels provided grounds for continuity.
The endorsement comes against the background of increasing political mobilisation in Delta State ahead of the 2027 elections, with several political groups and constituencies already declaring positions on Governor Oborevwori’s second-term bid. Earlier endorsements have included Ijaw political leaders and other groups in the state. The Pointer
Ukubeyinje urged APC members and supporters to intensify grassroots engagement and communicate the party’s record to voters as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
He said the College would continue to assess governance through what it described as performance, arguing that political support should be linked to the ability of governments to deliver on their programmes.
“As candidates of the APC, President Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori deserved the support of party faithful for their respective second-term bids,” he said.
