ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta Fresh Vision group has lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what it described as an extraordinary demonstration of fiscal discipline, integrity, and transformational leadership, declaring that the Governor’s no-borrowing policy has redefined governance in Delta State.
In a strongly worded statement signed by the Acting Chairman, Wilberforce Arinze, and Public Relations Officer, Grace Akaighe, the group hailed Oborevwori for steering the state through massive infrastructural development without acquiring new debts. “Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Oborevwori has not taken a single kobo in fresh loans, yet his administration continues to deliver visible, measurable progress across the State,” the statement read.
According to DELTA FRESH VISION, Governor Oborevwori inherited a staggering debt burden of N465 billion from previous administrations, but by May 2025, he had reduced it by more than half to N199.6 billion — a 54% drop. The group credited this financial turnaround to prudent use of internally generated revenue (IGR) and the state’s statutory allocations, alongside a transparent contract execution strategy that involves upfront mobilization of 20% to 40% to forestall inflationary pressures and bank loan interests.
“This administration is not just building roads, hospitals, and training centres — it is restoring trust in governance,” the group said, stressing that the no-loan policy has allowed the state to fully fund bursaries, welfare programs for youths, women and the disabled, and other citizen-focused initiatives without compromising service delivery or mortgaging the state’s future.
Describing Oborevwori as a symbol of trustworthy leadership and fiscal responsibility, DELTA FRESH VISION urged future administrations to emulate the governor’s self-reliant approach. The group also noted that Oborevwori’s achievements have gained national recognition, including being named Governor of the Year 2024 by ThisDay Newspaper and Arise Television, and ranking second nationwide in budget implementation by policy research group AGORA POLICY.
“Governor Oborevwori has earned our trust. He deserves every support to finish strong in 2027 and continue in office for a second term. If he’s done this much without borrowing, imagine what more he can do with a renewed mandate,” the group declared.
