Oborevwori’s Project Delivery Earns Strong Support from Delta Assembly

WARRI/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly has expressed its confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s ability to deliver on all ongoing state government projects, including those in the riverine communities across the three senatorial districts.

The assurance was given by the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Special Projects, Hon. Oboro Preyor, during an oversight inspection of key infrastructural projects in Warri South and Burutu local government areas.

The inspection tour, which is part of the legislative body’s constitutional duties, saw Hon. Preyor and his team review the progress of the Trans Warri, Ode-Itsekiri Bridge and access roads, as well as the much-discussed Ayakoromo Bridge spanning the River Forcados.

The projects, aimed at boosting connectivity and economic growth in these coastal areas, have been prioritised by the Oborevwori administration.

Accompanied by five fellow Committee members—Hon. Collins Egbetamah, Emmanuel Sinebe, Ferguson Onwo, Edafe Emakpor, and James Augoye—alongside officials from the Ministry of Works, Hon. Preyor reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the Governor’s development agenda.

He highlighted the importance of the legislature’s role in appropriating funds for these projects, adding that the oversight visits allow them to assess the quality and speed of the work being done.

“These inspections are essential for ensuring that our infrastructure projects meet the highest standards and are completed within the promised timeframe,” Preyor said, praising the Governor for his focus on coastal and riverine communities. He noted that the Assembly, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, has maintained a strong partnership with Governor Oborevwori to fulfil the promises of the MORE agenda and raise the standard of development across Delta State.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the lawmakers braved the rain to inspect the 15 bridges and access roads being built to link Itsekiri communities, a project aimed at reconnecting these areas with their ancestral homes.

Similarly, at the Ayakoromo Bridge site, Preyor expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work, which had recently been re-awarded to Setraco Nigeria Limited. He acknowledged the significant socio-economic impact the completed projects would bring to the local communities.

“The completion of these projects will transform the economic activities in these regions,” Preyor said, urging the contractors to adhere to the agreed deadlines and deliver top-quality work. He assured the public that the Assembly would closely monitor the projects to ensure there would be no abandonment or substandard delivery, signalling an end to the era of incomplete works.

Project Engineer Mr. Marun Narah, representing Setraco Nigeria Limited, provided updates on the progress, noting that previous challenges have been addressed, and thanked stakeholders for their ongoing support.

Hon. Preyor concluded by calling on residents to continue backing the state government’s development efforts, assuring them that the Assembly remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of democracy reach every corner of Delta State, no matter how remote.

The inspection tour by the House Committee on Works and Special Projects will continue across other key sites in the state, as the lawmakers push to drive infrastructural development forward.
